hm_duggan_deirdre1.JPG - HONORABLE MENTION - Deirdre A Duggan I made a reversible corset using only used and recycled items. On the pictured side, the blue t-shirt was purchased at the production of Les Miserable about 10 years ago and the neckline was removed so my fabric placement was limited. On the reverse side I used a cotton dress shirt that no longer fit my son and was ready to be delivered to Goodwill. Each of the 10 seams are boned with large sized electrical ties and 2 smaller ties for the front and back openings, all found among the stuff my husband can't part with in the garage. I sewed in aluminum pop-tops for the 'eyelets' and anchored them with the buttons that I removed from the cotton shirt. The bias tape bordering the top and bottom was made with leftover pieces of the shirt and the only cost other than thread, was the twill tape used to lace up the back. That was found at our local Kiwanis thrift shop for .25 cents and I tea stained it to age it a bit.
