Williams_Elizabeth1.JPG - Elizabeth Williams I have always thought that those lovely silks were wasted on men's neckties fabric.....so I made a little summer shift out of 11 ties. I gently laundered them, undid all the stitching and ironed out the creases. Making good use of the bias cut of the ties, I draped and pinned them on my dress form and, after sewing the seams, added a touch of embroidery to the bodice, straps and hem using metallic gold floss. The end result was a feather light, form-fitting shift made from discarded ties purchased for $2 each at a local thrift shop.
