2009 National Sewing Month Contest Submissions

Riskedahl_Rita1.jpg - Rita Riskedahl I sewed this jacket using four different colored denim jeans and one long jean skirt. I chose Vogue pattern V1042 for the pattern since it had 6 pattern pieces so it was easier to use the pant legs of the jeans. The jean skirt was used for the sleeves centering the sleeve pattern on the side seam so I had enough material to cut the sleeve in one piece. I cut 3/4 inch bias strips out of the pant legs to sew on the collar and cuffs. The fabric flower on the collar I made out of scraps of the four different colored jeans. The tie scarf was made out of an old cape that I found in my closet.
