2009 National Sewing Month Contest Submissions

Dobratz_Noreen1.jpg - Noreen Dobratz A $7.00 purchase of a linen jacket,at a Goodwill Store,started my creation. Asian faces were cut from fabric and appliqued to the front and back of the jacket. Gold,metallic netting was hand sewn over the faces, then lace was sewn over the collar. A black crest was embroidered on the back of the jacket and a Japanese word for "butterfly" was embroidered on the front. I purchased 3/4 yard of upholstery hooks and eyes,tea dyed them, and hand stitched them on for the front closure. Many different buttons were sewn on the pocket. Original lining was removed and a new lining, with many decorative stencils, was sewn in.
