DeLong_Laura1.JPG - Laura DeLong The project started when a customer brought me the leftovers from a jacket she had made of silk. The next step came when a male friend announced his silk boxers were worn out, and I begged him to let me recycle them (all the burgundy and black). Finally, I noticed that a silk blouse in my closet was the perfect shape and color, but I didn’t want to sacrifice it because it was a favorite. Then I looked closely at it and realized it had been a favorite for a long time and was truly ready for recycling. I searched out a pattern that would accommodate the collection. The lining and buttons are “new”, but you’d never guess that everything that shows is used or scraps.
