Cisko_Sheila.JPG - Sheila Cisko The '70s chairs for the basement rec room needed to be updated and the stack of too- small-but-keep-'em-'cause-we'll-lose-weight jeans was growing. Each chair was made from two pairs of jeans (one for seat, one for back) that were cut off at the top of the thighs, double leg seams removed, then sewn together hem to thigh. The fabric was then covered around the seat and stapled. The fabric for the chair backs was sewn into tubes, back inserted, then stapled on the sides. The footstool was a sudden inspiration, still having leftover fabric and the cut-off torsos. In true recycle-reuse spirit, the footstool is filled with used plastic grocery bags, inserted through the fly zipper.
