Burkey_Kathy1.jpg - Kathy Burkey I had a seriously tattered velvet patchwork quilt and I couldn't bring myself to throw it away so I took and repaired each square that only had the batting showing, and I repaired them with my velvet garments that I no longer wear, then I used my leftover suade material (leftover from other sewing projects) and constructed a backing and binding. The new quilt is so beautiful. I am so proud of myself. Not only did I make a beautiful quilt but I also rescued used items from my closet that would otherwise be discarded.
